Who is capable of doing this to a dog?
I had the privilege of spending a couple hours with Tatiana, the horribly abused Pit Bull on Friday two days after she was found. She is slowly recovering under the care of Capital Area Humane Society in Lansing. She is a younger female Pit Bull and when I think of what someone did to her, it makes me sick to my stomach, I cannot get her face out of my mind, and I cannot imagine what she went through or how she felt. Ernie Moss of Lansing found her Wednesday while he was walking his two dogs, her legs had been hogtied with heavy duty electrical tape; her muzzle was also taped shut. She had severe head injuries from blunt force trauma.
She was thrown down an embankment in a wooded area in the freezing cold weather and left to die out there in the dark all by herself. Tatiana was frozen to the ground when he found her. I am mad as HELL. There is the issue that whoever did this could be charged with a misdemeanor or a felony, this horrendous act is way beyond a misdemeanor. I hope Ingham County Animal Control in Mason who is investigating this case finds out who did this to her and punishes them to the full extent of the law. Until people stand up against animal cruelty and punish the crime, it will always be a problem. I am glad she received media attention but everyone must realize animal abuse happens daily, for every dog like Tatiana there are many more you never hear about. On Friday Ingham County Animal Control officers found a young brown and white Pit Bull in a kennel frozen to death in Ingham Park, thank you to the neighbor who called that one in. Yes animal abuse is in your hometown and close to your home. Do people realize that abuse starts with animals then moves to children then the spouse? I have personally heard comments such as, just euthanize her (you can’t euthanize them all, after what she has been through how can you not think she should be given a chance to recover and given a chance to learn that love does not hurt), it’s only a dog (a dog is not a thing, they have feelings and feel pain), it’s not my problem (it is every ones problem what will this barbaric cruel despicable person do next?), she’s a Pit Bull (Pit Bulls make excellent family pets judge the dog not the breed), and it happens every day (just because it happens every day does not excuse it or make it right).
I am thankful that Ernie Moss helped her when he found her. I do not believe many people would have stepped in as it is always easier to look the other way, it’s always someone else’s problem. That’s the problem. I realize a lot of people now want to adopt her, and that is great I hope she finds the most special forever home and is shown what love is. She will be in a foster home until she heals and the case is solved, she then will be placed in her forever home. Everybody seems to rally around special cases at first but in a couple weeks when this all dies down and Tatiana is out of the spotlight then what. What about all the other sad abused homeless cats and dogs that need to learn what love is? Please be the voice for the animals that have no voice of their own, if you see it….report it. Hopefully with the help of people who gave tips to Ingham County Animal Control and Capital Area Humane Society, Tatiana will get some justice. Animal cruelty is animal cruelty it’s wrong period.

This is such a heartbreaking story. I’m so glad Capital Area Humane Society was able to step in and help this poor dog. Keep us updated on Tatiana’s condition.
Animal cruelty is a cold blooded, cold hearted act of violence perpatrated by some one who has no feelings, no conscience in other words…. a sociopath!
